Refrain From Buying A Tactical Assault Vest Until You Look Through These 4 Suggestions
Safety is the uttermost concern when hunting. Things do go bad and you could find yourself being chased by a huge animal just when your weapon fails. That is when you need to drop all your gear and run for your life.
When I say gear, most hunters would customarily consider the weapons they carry. They forget that a tactical assault vest is also a very important piece of gear. Before purchasing a tactical assault vest for hunting, you have to know a few things about military chest rigs before you part with your cash.
Length Of Trip
I myself have 2 sorts of military chest rigs – one for overnight expeditions and another for week-long hunts. Trust me, it is way easier to trace and hunt a rogue elephant than to track and hunt a menacing tiger. Any tropical forest ranger can tell you that.
Clearly a short journey will require fewer supplies. Thus, a modular tactical assault vest would do. I often hookup a few pouches to my modular rig via the PALS webbing system and pair it with a hydration pack at the back. The whole ensemble is light and is less certain to get in the way of things.
On longer trips, I use a battle chest rig. It sounds cool because it is. There are way more areas to store stuff and everything is within easy reach. There’s always the option of just carrying a larger backpack but accessibility would be an issue .
Comfort
When purchasing gear you need to tote around for long periods of time, comfort is an important factor. For a tactical assault vest, the shoulder strap padding should be adequate especially if you’re going to be wearing a larger rig. It is also desirable to make certain there are no pointy bits poking you in the sides or chest after you are strapped in.
Durability
Quality tactical gear is expensive. This is due to the fact that they are meant to last a long while and be well placed to take a lot of thrashing in the entire duration. Before you purchase a tactical assault vest, ensure you check for loose stitching and fittings that do not actually fit.
